How to prepare the Benue yam!

 


Yam as we all know, except in the US where they sometimes call sweet potato yam is a highly fibrous vegetable with a great source of potassium,magnassium and antioxidants. It can be prepared in several ways which includes roasting, boiling, pounding, frying etc. It can be taken with egg source, peanut butter, vegetable oil,palm oil etc when boiled, roasted or fried soup when pounded, the list goes on.

Benue yam?? What is so spectacular about this Benue yam that made it gain the status as being the best yam in Nigeria? A lot of people talk about it's great taste compared to yams from other regions. In this article we are going to learn a low budget way of preparing yam and that is boiling. 



So how do we boil our yams, first off you want to peel off the back, be careful not to get the peel allover your body because that's gonna itch so badly, next you wash the peeled yam then put in boiling water, add a little salt and after a few minute, you yam should be soft and ready. You could then invite your community as you eat your boiled yam with oil, stew, etc in the next article we would learn other exciting ways to prepare yams. Bye for now.
